Stay Connected & Informed/Read the Newspapers
Posted by Tom Fairbanks under Principles of Good BusinessP.T. Barnum said “Always take a trustworthy newspaper, and thus keep thoroughly posted in regard to the transactions of the world. He who is without a newspaper is cut off from his species. In these days of telegraphs and steam, many important inventions and improvements in every branch of trade, are being made, and he who don’t consult the newspapers will soon find himself and his business left out in the cold.”
It has been said that there are three kinds of people, those who make it happen, those who watch it happen and those who wonder what happened. Barnum understood that being informed on events and changing circumstance is an essential element in uncovering opportunity.
The widespread use of technology today and the access it provides creates an abundance of opportunities to those who follow Barnum’s wise counsel to be constantly connected to trustworthy information. Maybe today rather than just saying “Read the Newspapersâ€, he would say, “Stay Connected & Informed.â€
